RENNES : THE TOP STUDENT CITY
Rennes is listed by the "Commidssion Européenne" as the “France’s most pleasant city to live in” (read more). The city is one of France’s top student cities with 62,000 students attending a number of prestigious universities. Rennes is a high-level center for European competitivity. The Brittany region has always taken an interest in clothing and textiles, from the long-standing, traditional manufacture of sails and linen clothing to today’s technical sailing clothes. ESMOD Rennes, which opened in 1988, benefits from this dynamic and has imposed itself, over time, as a reference school for Western France.
The school has 3 classrooms equipped with sewing machines, merrow machines, irons, light tables plus a computer room with work posts, tracer and digitizing table. Students have access to a documentation area, fabric library, snack area and boutique selling supplies at reduced prices in an agreement with “Couture et Loisirs”.
Many contests are proposed to students and key events which mark the school year include Open House Days, discovery workshops, the end-of-year fashion show in Halle Martelot and Fashion Night, the 1st being organized in May 2013 at the request of Rennes city hall. ESMOD Rennes is actively supported by regional companies like Groupe Beaumanoir in Saint Malo, Ekyog in Rennes and Armor Lux, all have hired ESMOD students.
