International exchanges

An experience abroad is a unique opportunity to supplement your academic path with the specific expertise offered by each school, to enhance your professional plan and to open yourself up to new cultures and working methods.
ESMOD already has more than 30 years of international experience through its own network, and is firmly pursuing this policy of developing partnerships with other institutes of higher education around the world.
Whether you are a student of ESMOD France or its network, whether you are a student from another school or a representative of a higher education institute, you will find a person to contact here: International Department Contacts

You are an ESMOD France student

There are three exchange possibilities available to you:

Thanks to the programmes created in Paris and adapted to all schools within the network, our students at ESMOD France are able to benefit throughout their years of study, from a system of inter-school exchanges lasting from a few weeks to one semester.

Ugo Recassens-Doux – 3rd year student at ESMOD Paris on exchange at ESMOD Tokyo
The exchange programme enabled me to discover Japan and particularly the city of Tokyo with its avant-garde fashion. This visit benefited me a lot, especially the courses of Mr. Kakita, a professor at ESMOD Tokyo, who taught me tailoring techniques that were very useful to me in preparing my collection.

Since 2014, ESMOD France has been a member of the ERASMUS Charter.
The ERASMUS + programme principally enables agreements to be signed between schools and universities within the European Higher Education Area, in order to organize study exchanges.
Consult the list of institutes with which ESMOD has signed agreements:

Conditions and procedure:
Who: ERASMUS + exchanges are open to students in the 2nd year of the Fashion Designer course
When: exchanges are possible in the 1st or 2nd semester of the second year. An ERASMUS + exchange takes place for a minimum of 3 months.
For an exchange in the 1st semester, applications must be submitted before 15 May.
For an exchange in the 2nd semester, applications must be submitted before 1 October.
Application file to be submitted to Guillaume Thiery:
As the number of exchanges is limited, a selection is made between the various applications by the Validation and Guidance Committee. (The evaluation criteria include the student's grades, the relevance of the project, the student’s attendance record, the opinion of their tutors and overall behavior).
Please note: Our partner institutes are free to accept or refuse the applications we offer them.

NABA, Italy (Milano)
University of Trier, Germany (Trier)

Wara Leepinowski – 3rd year student on exchange at NABA (Milan) during her 2nd year
This exchange gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about myself. On a professional level I became open to different ways of working and learning. Being in the same class with international students was very interesting and rewarding. On a personal level I gained independence and responsibility. Living in a foreign city where you do not speak the language is not easy and you have to adapt to a new culture. It opened me up to the international world of work.

Study exchanges through the ERASMUS + programme may qualify for ERASMUS + grants. The amounts may vary according to the country in which the exchange is carried out. (Link)
The payment of such grants is conditional on passing language tests (the teaching language of the country where the study programme is conducted) before departure (80% of the grant) and after return (20% of the grant).
Courses in the language in question are offered free of charge by the ERASMUS programme after taking the test.

In addition to its own network and the ERASMUS + programme, ESMOD has adopted a policy of openness to higher education institutes worldwide. We facilitate student mobility as much as possible, especially through inter-university agreements:
Cornell University (USA)

Lauren Wood – 3rd year student in "Director of Commercial Fashion and Communication Strategy" on exchange at Cornell University (USA)
"I was very honoured to have been chosen, during my 2nd year of studies, to follow this exchange programme with Cornell University, very highly reputed in the United States (member of the Ivy League). I had an amazing semester there with very friendly students and diverse and interesting professors ranging from a biology engineer to a natural dye specialist. This experience was a great addition to the ESMOD Fashion Business course."
